You never need to find an excuse to enjoy a piece of moist chocolate cake, but today we’ll give you one. For instance, January 27 is National Chocolate Cake Day! But you don’t need to wait around for January to enjoy one of these tempting recipes.

At the campsite, your Dutch oven and slow cooker are perfect candidates for making a delicious treat that everyone, including the neighbors, will surely enjoy. The ingredients are few and easy to pick up at the local market or grocery store. Here are four recipes to save and try this upcoming season (or now, if you so desire).

Dutch Oven Chocolate Pudding Dump Cake (From Everyday Dutch Oven) Chocolate-Pudding-Dump-Cake-

Ingredients
1 16 oz. package chocolate cake mix
1 3.9 oz. package instant chocolate pudding
1 1/2 cups milk
1 1/2 cups semi-sweet chocolate chips

Instructions

Lightly oil or spray 12 inch Dutch oven; line with parchment paper if desired.
In large bowl, whisk milk with pudding mix until thickened.
Stir in cake mix; mix until well combined, batter will be thick.
Spread batter in prepared Dutch oven.
Sprinkle evenly with chocolate chips.
Bake at 350 degrees for 30-35 minutes or until edges pull away from sides.
Allow to cool before lifting from oven with parchment paper.

Slow Cooker Chocolate Cherry Dr. Pepper Cobbler (From Life Should Cost less) drpeppercobblercrockpot

Ingredients
One 21 oz. can of cherry pie filling
One Devil’s Food cake mix
One 20 oz. bottle of Dr. Pepper
½ cup butter

Instructions

Grease your crockpot (a 3-quart slow cooker was used Description: http://ir-na.amazon-adsystem.com/e/ir?t=httplifeshoul-20&l=as2&o=1&a=B003UCG8IIfor this recipe) and then evenly spread the cherries in the bottom.
Add the dry cake mix and spread it out evenly.
Add the Dr Pepper. Make sure you don’t just pour it all in one spot. Use even motion and spread over the entire cake mix as best you can.
Cube the butter.
Spread the cubed butter over the top of the Dr. Pepper froth.
Add the lid and set on High for about two hours.

Ingredients
Devil’s Food cake mix
Can of Lemon-Lime soda
Mini marshmallows
Chocolate chips

Instructions

Create hot coals for the Dutch oven.
Line the Dutch oven with foil and spray with some cooking spray.
Mix the cake mix and soda together.
Fold in the chocolate chips and mini marshmallows. We used about a half a bag of chips and about a third of a bag of the mallows.
Spread the batter into a foil lined Dutch oven that has been sprayed with cooking spray.
Place lid on Dutch oven, cover with coals, and bake for 24-30 minutes depending on your heat. Time will vary depending on the size of your Dutch oven and heat of the coals.

Ingredients
One box Betty Crocker™ fudge brownie mix
½ cup butter, melted
4 eggs
One pouch Betty Crocker™ chocolate chip cookie mix
Vanilla ice cream, as desired

Instructions

Spray 4 1/2-quart slow cooker with baking spray with flour.
In large bowl, mix brownie mix with 1/4 cup of the melted butter and 2 of the eggs.
In another large bowl, mix chocolate chip cookie mix, remaining 1/4 cup melted butter and remaining 2 eggs.
Drop alternate spoonfuls of the brownie and chocolate chip cookie batters into slow cooker.
Cover; cook on High heat setting 2 to 3 hours or until cake is set in center. To serve, spoon cake from slow cooker, and top with scoops of ice cream.
