As soon as winter settles into the Leelanau Peninsula, the staff at Shady Lane Cellars welcome
outdoor enthusiasts to hit the 3 miles of trails that meander throughout the
vineyard – whether they arrive in boots, snowshoes or cross country skis. The
estate winery is also linked to Traverse City’s longer TART Trail system and
makes for a perfect stop, especially during Shady Lane Cellars’ winter
event, Sip, Soup, Ski.

January cross country skiers are welcome to glide along the freshly-groomed trails that lead right to our
Tasting Room door. The, cozy up by the fire pit afterward to sip one of Shady Lane
Cellars’ curated soup and wine pairings.

Suttons Bay Bikes, 318 N. St. Joseph Street in Suttons Bay makes it simple to
rent skis – and they’ll be dropped off for participants at Shady Lane Cellars
for convenience. Those renting cross country skis must be on site at 1 p.m. the
day they plan to visit to participate in a fitting.
