Summer is just around the corner – warm weather, endless sunshine, and carefree days are almost within reach. And while we’re daydreaming of kicking back, feet in the air and the children playing nicely nearby, wouldn’t life be just a bit sweeter with a fresh glass of homemade lemonade? A pitcher of the classic for the kids and an adult version for you. Yum!

 

Whether your chair is parked at the beach, in your backyard, or at the campsite, you’ll definitely want a tall glass of one of these delicious lemonades in hand.

 

For the Kids

 

Strawberry Lemonade Melanie Cooks

Made with real strawberries and freshly squeezed lemons, the kiddos will certainly be asking for seconds…and thirds!

Ingredients

  • 1 cup fresh lemon juice (about 6 lemons)
  • 1 lemon, sliced
  • 1 lb fresh strawberries, thinly sliced
  • 1 ¼ cup sugar, divided
  • 9 cups water, divided

Instructions

  1. Thinly slice strawberries and set in a bowl. Sprinkle ½ cup of sugar over the strawberries and stir with spoon. Set aside, at room temperature, for one hour.
  2. After one hour, press strawberries with the back of the spoon to release more juice.
  3. In a medium sized saucepan, combine ¾ cups of sugar and 1 cup of water. Bring to boil, remove from heat, and stir until sugar is dissolved. Set aside and let cool.
  4. In a serving pitcher, pour 1 cup of fresh lemon juice, sugar syrup, and 8 cups of cold water. Add strawberries and their juice along with lemon slices.
  5. Serve over ice.

 

Blue Raspberry Lemonade Jell-O SlushThis Silly Girl’s Life

Beware of the inevitable blue mouths!

Ingredients

  • 1 cup boiling water
  • 1 cup lemon-lime soda
  • Juice from ½ of a fresh lemon
  • 1 box Berry Blue Jell-O (3.4 oz. box)
  • Fresh raspberries and lemon slices for garnish (optional)
  • Additional lemon-lime soda or lemonade to add to drink when serving

Instructions

  1. In an 8 x 11 baking dish, combine boiling water and Jell-O until completely dissolved.
  2. Stir in soda and lemon juice. Freeze for at least 4 hours, or until frozen solid.
  3. Remove from freezer 10-15 minutes before serving.
  4. Fill glass with half slushy mix and half soda.
  5. Garnish with lemon slices and raspberries, if using.

 

For the Adults

 

Sangria LemonadeGarnish With Lemon

A delicious twist on the classic.

Ingredients

  • 4 cups lemonade
  • 1 (750 ml) bottle of white wine
  • 1 cup Bacardi Limon rum
  • 2 tablespoons sugar
  • 1 orange, cut into slices
  • 1 Granny Smith apple, cut into chunks

Instructions

  1. Pour lemonade, white wine, rum, and sugar into a large pitcher. Stir until sugar is completely dissolved. Add oranges and apple chunks, stir.
  2. Cover tightly and refrigerate for at least one hour.
  3. Serve over ice.

 

 

Vodka Mint LemonadeHoney and Lime Co

A refreshing cocktail, perfect for an afternoon by the lake.

Ingredients

  • 2 cups vodka
  • 4 cups lemonade
  • Fresh mint
  • ½ cup sliced strawberries
  • Lime for garnish (optional)

Instructions

  1. Combine vodka, lemonade, half of the strawberries, and half of the mint leaves in a tall pitcher. Muddle until fruit is slightly mashed.
  2. Add remaining strawberries and mint to pitcher.
  3. Pour over ice, garnish with a slice of lime, and enjoy!
