Did you know October 26th is National Pumpkin Day? There is no better way to enjoy the day than taking the family to the nearest patch to pick the perfect pumpkin – especially if you don’t already have some for Halloween. Whether you prefer the short and stout or tall and slim, your rig won’t be complete without an orange gourd – carved or original!

 

Here are five Michigan pumpkin patches – each offering a variety of fun activities for the whole family – to get you started.

Grandma’s Pumpkin Patch – Midland, Michigan

In business since 1994, you can enjoy much more than finding the perfect pumpkin. The kids will love the variety of animals at the petting zoo, including goats, rabbits, ponies and more! Take a hayride tour of the patch and conclude with the 3.5-acre corn maze. Open Saturdays 10 AM to 6 PM and Sundays 12-6 PM, there are activities for all ages.

DeBuck’s Corn Maze and Pumpkin Patch – Belleville, Michigan

With over 13 acres of trails and an 18-acre pumpkin patch, DeBuck’s is one of southeast Michigan’s favorite pumpkin patches. Spend the afternoon taking on the different mazes, each with varying difficulty. If you’re feeling adventurous, try the Night Maze and make sure to bring a flashlight! Pick your own pumpkin from the field, take part in a pedal go-kart race, use a corn cannon, ride the super slide, and more at DeBuck’s patch. Harvest Moon Acres – Gobles, Michigan

If you are in the southwest area, make sure to add Harvest Moon Acres to your list of fall activities. Nothing will wow the kids more than the Harvest Moon Saloon Shootout. Test your skills and launch a pumpkin with a pumpkin slingshot! This year, Harvest Moon added the Big Red Barn and Apple Cider Donuts, making a quicker checkout and more convenient concession stand. Don’t miss out on the variety of attractions including a 5-acre corn maze, petting zoo, hayrides, fun zone, and more until October 30th.

Pahl’s Pumpkin Patch – Buckley, Michigan

Open October 1st through the 31st, Pahl’s Pumpkin Patch is sure to be the place to celebrate National Pumpkin Day. Entrance fee is $2, while children 4 and under are free. Take the kids to pick a unique pumpkin from the field, walk through the corn maze, take a hayride, and enjoy all that Pahl’s has to offer. You’ll feel better knowing that Pahl’s also uses minimal chemicals and pesticides at their farm. Make sure to complete your RV decorations by grabbing straw, gourds, and corn stalk bundles.

Hayes Corn Maze and Pumpkin Patch – Rock, Michigan

This patch has something for everyone. Pick a pumpkin at “The Outback” patch, try your hand at pumpkin bowling, and explore the Pumpkin Tree House. In celebration of 15 years in business, Hayes will be giving out 5 pounds of pumpkin free for each ticket purchased! But pumpkins are only a part of the fun at Hayes. Be sure to check out the 2016 “Four Seasons Natural Beef” themed corn maze. Take the maze challenge to be entered into a drawing to win cool prizes at the end of the season.
