 MESSAGE FROM THE PRESIDENT
From the Comfort of an RV
The best part about Michigan is Getting around
its natural diversity. This makes
camping in this state exceptional in that you can be beachside one day
at one of the largest freshwater bodies
in the world and then hiking through a virgin forest the next with trees that have stood majestically since before the Civil War. There are waterfalls, mountain tops, islands, and peninsulas.
Michigan isn’t just beautiful in its appearance; the very soil and climate make it an ideal state for growing different agricultural products. It’s well-known now that Michigan grows its own grapes and hops, but it’s also a top producer of tart cherries, potatoes, asparagus, and apples. Just visit a farmer’s market — they are everywhere and have the freshest produce to bring back to the campsite — to get an idea of the variety.
RVing gives you the chance to experience it all. The crystal blue water, the tall green pines, the flame of autumn leaves, the red grapes on the vine... all of the senses become engaged quite easily. And we wouldn’t want to be anywhere else.
In this, our 2020 edition of Michigan RV & Campgrounds, we provide you with some of the best places to visit in the state, as featured by us as well as national news outlets. There are tips for finding agate stones along the shores of Lake Superior and information on some of Michigan’s mountains (yes, we don’t just have water).
and visiting a
destination or two
is just part of the
fun of using an RV,
but there is also the
management side
of RV ownership.
That’s why we’ve included in this issue money-saving tips for storing your RV, how to plan for emergencies, and how
to best manage and understand your RV’s power. There’s also some fun: organize
a progressive dinner (not your traditional potluck) with your neighbors at the campground, park, or resort; and whip up a batch or two of cookies to munch on (we’ve given you three recipes)
or offer to the kids after a day of
playing outside.
As stated in an article in this edition of Michigan RV & Campgrounds, “A particularly stressful event for many people is traveling. But with an RV, you can alleviate some of the stress points of travel — as well as experience the benefits of reduced stress from other aspects of the RV lifestyle.” Here’s
to another great year of camping in Michigan, and experiencing all that the state, and the RV life, has to offer.
Happy camping,
Mary Pouliot, President
