 Michigan DNR:
IRON BELLE TRAIL
Have you heard of the Iron Belle Trail? For serious adventurers and travelers, you could make your whole vacation all about traversing just a segment of it. The trail — two versions, one for bikes and one for hikers — stretches from Detroit to Ironwood over a grand total of 1,259 miles for those who wish to hike and 774 for bicyclists.
Sixty to 70 percent of the trail is completed and connected because it makes use of existing trails in local municipalities. When you take the Iron Belle Trail, you’ll pass through many diverse communities across Michigan.
An interactive trail map is available on the Michigan DNR website, so you can go segment by segment of the trail for mileage. There are also downloadable PDF maps that you can print and use for traveling between multiple points along the route.
