Things to do in the Northwest Region
1. Go searching for beach glass – and find Petoskey stones or Leland blue stones, too!
2. Breathe a sigh of relief when you reach Lake Michigan, which can take three or four hours from the start of the Sleeping Bear Dunes dune climb.
3. Walk the deck of the SS. City of Milwaukeee that used to be walked by men and women in uniform.
4. Watch the sun set over the Straights of Mackinac.
5. Feel like you’re in Hobbiton by visiting the Earl Young “mushroom” houses near Charlevoix.
6. Go for a scoop of Super Moo at Moomer’s in Traverse City, MI. This hand-made ice cream can’t be beat – and its multi- colored appearance is a staple for Michigan kids.
7. Arcadia Dunes has one of the best overlooks in the state.
