When you think of a toasted marshmallow, you naturally think of s’mores.

S’mores are a necessity for most campers. The traditional toasted marshmallow sandwiched between graham crackers and chocolate is hard to beat. Here are some other delicious recipes by which to enjoy a s’more, or at least the taste of one.

1. Fruit and S’more Cones, Kids Activity Blog

Here’s a way to improve the nutrition, kick up the flavor, and add some customization. Every member of the family can make their cone to their liking. Eat the finished treat in the traditional way like an ice cream cone or scoop out the gooey, warm filling with a spoon.

Ingredients

  • Chopped fruit (strawberries, bananas, apples, blueberries, etc.)
  • Mini marshmallows
  • Chocolate chips
  • Waffle ice-cream cone

Instructions
First, chop the fruit into smaller, more manageable bits. Then, mix all ingredients (except cones) together in a metal bowl. Wrap the cones in foil and have fun stuffing the waffle cones till they are brimming and overflowing. Fold the foil over the top and lay them over the fire, once the coals have turned gray. Rotate the cones a couple times over the course of 5-7 minutes. Unwrap and enjoy!

2. Easy Skillet S’mores Dip, Courtesy of Cleverly Simple

A fresh twist and a sure party pleaser or family dessert, s’mores dip gives you the taste of the camping classic without the need for sticks or having to be on alert with the rest of the fixings. It’s a great recipe to use on rainy days when a campfire just isn’t possible.

Ingredients

  • Marshmallows
  • Graham crackers
  • Chocolate bars or chips

Instructions

Layer the chocolate bars on the bottom of a round or square pan that you can place in the oven.  A cast iron pan would do great as well.  Use four chocolate bars, more if you really love chocolate. If using chips, use enough to generously cover the bottom of the pan. Top the chocolate with a full bag of marshmallows. Pack them in there. Bake at 450 degrees Fahrenheit for 5 to 7 minutes. Keep a close eye on it. Remove from oven when marshmallows become toasty-brown and let cool for 10 minutes. Grab graham crackers and start scooping!

 3. Pumpkin S’mores Cake, Courtesy of Gold Medal Flour

Blend summer and autumn with this inventive and appealing cake that bridges the best tastes of the seasons. It’ll be a great hit at a potluck.

Ingredients

  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 2 cups fine graham cracker crumbs
  • 1 cup dark brown sugar
  • 2 teaspoons baking powder
  • 2 teaspoons pumpkin pie spice
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 cup canola oil
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla
  • 1(15 ounce) can pure pumpkin
  • 8 large milk chocolate bars
  • 2 cups mini marshmallows

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Spray a 9×13-inch baking dish with non-stick cooking spray and set aside.
  2. In a large bowl, whisk together the flour, graham cracker crumbs, brown sugar, baking powder, pumpkin pie spice and salt.
  3. In a medium bowl, whisk together the oil, milk, eggs, vanilla, and pumpkin.
  4. Stir the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients until well combined. Pour evenly into prepared baking dish.
  5. Bake for 30 minutes or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean. Remove from oven and turn oven off.
  6. Place chocolate bars evenly over baked cake. Return to oven while it’s off for 2 minutes. Remove the cake from the oven again and turn on the oven broiler. Spread the melted chocolate bars evenly over the cake so that it is completely covered.
  7. Sprinkle mini marshmallows evenly over chocolate layer. Place under the broiler for 2-3 minutes until marshmallows start to brown. Watch them very closely so they don’t blacken. Rotate if necessary to evenly brown all marshmallows.
  8. Let cake cool on a wire rack.
